Tangible benefits, supported by decades of scientific research

The scientific research at the Center for Healthy Minds, led by Dr. Richard Davidson, has led to breakthroughs in the neuroscience of well-being and how the mind can be trained to be more focused, calm, and resilient through meditation training.

Arrow in a bullseye

Increased focus

The Healthy Minds Program incorporates mindfulness meditation. Our research, along with many others, has shown that these practices improve performance on attention tasks (Tang et al., 2007; Lutz et al., 2009).

Happy face

Less stress, more resilience

Research suggests that meditation training improves an individual's ability to cope with stress (Hoge et al., 2018; Creswell et al., 2014; Kang & Oh, 2012).

Flower heart

More compassion

Meditation has been shown to enhance compassion and promote altruistic behavior (Weng et al., 2013; Condon et al., 2013).

Heart inside a cross

Better health

Meditation and mindfulness-based training programs have been shown to impact immune system functioning and may help treat chronic health conditions. (Rosenkranz et al., 2013; Davidson et al., 2003).

How mindfulness changes the emotional life of our brains

"Why is it that some people are more vulnerable to life's slings and arrows and others more resilient?" In this eye-opening talk, Richard Davidson discusses how mindfulness can improve well-being and outlines strategies to boost four components of a healthy mind: awareness, connection, insight, and purpose.

Build a daily habit through guided practice

Measure your well-being and track progress

I like the practice and the teaching very much! I appreciate that I can do active practice, which is what I need in my busy day to day life. I also like that I can set the number of minutes per practice.

[The program] helped me stay grounded about how I need to tend to my mental health on a daily basis, just like my physical health.

The best part for me was when I noticed meditation practice showing up in my daily life without a conscious effort – so rather than scheduling time to do this, it just occurred to me that it was the right thing to do and then experience validated that.
